transport costs

im pissed la. y they keep increasing the fares. ok fine the increase per trip is between 1 to 3 cents..but still!!! its a monopoly for goodness sake..ok fine oligopoly since there's 2 companies..but they seem the same to be anyway...n they arent competing cos smrt handles the NS n EW line whereas sbstransit handles the NE line...anyhow..i dun get it...they oredi have high profits last yr....so y increase fares once again? just because of higher cost of oil? come on u all r a govt based service...how come it has become a profit churning board? u all r the only providers for public transport...when oil costs increases all singaporeans who take public transport will be affected...n is making profits the only thing on ur minds? n its not that the 2 companies made losses last yr...it was like..a hell lot of profit..n to make sure profit is the same or increases..u all just increase fares just lidat? so wat if the profit increases? the public loses. ya students n senior citizens n ns pple aint affected....so?? means the bulk of the excess cost has fallen to the working adults! *points to myself* (fine in 2 yrs time..but still!!!) i just dun get it, cost increase, we pay more to cover the cost, for a govt based service provider for the singapore citizens to keep profits high or increase profits? come on.........
