im back

my blogger home page says i dun have any previous posts...dunno wat the heck is going on...but i'll see how later...now its to update my trip to shanghai...i'll keep it as short as possible cos im really tired...

the drama came on the last day...or rather the last few hours...let me see how i shall start..ok it takes around 30 min to get from the hotel to the airport...and 10 min into the journey on the highway...we entered this...huge huge fog..its like....shuttle run...the most u can see is the bean bags...n i tot that was bad...cos the vehicles had to switch on the hazard lights...travel at 30km/h...n then..it became a fog that is like...u-stretch-out-your-hands-but-cant-see-your-own-hands kind of fog...n im not exaggerating...i was wondering how the pilot gonna land...cos my flight supposed to depart at 8.45am..n the aircraft i'll take is the one that came from singapore n will arrive at shanghai at around 6am..which was the same timing as the one i took last week...nvm...after almost an hr...(thank goodness we arrived at the airport in one piece)...i went into the airport...n the tv there flashed "delayed"...nvm...went to the counter to check-in the bags...they say the flight departing at 9am..which is onli 15 min later...nvm..go have breakfast first...then...they announced that the plane's departure time is indefinite...like...piang...nvm....the mist was beginning to clear...so we tot we will depart soon....then...worse is my mum was having her heavy flow...and was out of pads...cos her flow was really heavy...then..went around to look for a supermarket or pharmacy..n believe it or not...the whole airport doesnt have a single supermart or pharmacy..so she tot of going to the stewardesses to get help..like get on the plane n get her some pad or sumthing...went to the boarding gate...tadaaaaa...we heard the china pple said that the flight was in beijing...cos it couldnt land due to the heavy fog...which meant that...even if the fog cleared...we had no plane to board....wat to do..continue waiting.....n finally the plane was coming in...n the new departure time was 1145am...n i tot the drama ended...i mean like..i take plane once a yr...wats the probability of meeting a heavy fog plus a missing plane plus a delayed flight home rite...wat made it worse is i had to get up at like..4 in the morning..nvm...wait again...then...change of gate..from gate 20 to gate 36...had to go down an escalator...nvm...when we went down..we realised there was still NO plane...n the stewardesses and captains all looked so blur...cos no one noes wat is going on...n..taddaaaaaa...we see buses coming to pick us up...BUSES i stress..n of cos...speculation is the plane is somewhere far far away n couldnt get an aerobridge space to land....n i tot the drama was over long ago..so...the bus took us to the plane (which was together with fedex n dhl planes n other cargo planes..believe it or not)..and finally left shanghai at 1pm...crap....

ok my trip to shanghai..shall categorise them...my lessons learnt from shanghai...hahah:

1. People -- i realise how sars spread so fast looking how the chinese spit...every 5 seconds of walking..i hear that spitting sound...n have to dodge any possible spit that's coming in my direction....n they r so pushy as well....argh i dun wish to comment much bout them....

2. Shopping -- surprisingly...i bought the least stuff..serious..my dad bought the most...shoes..suit..jacket...wallets..watches...i bought onli a windbreaker n 2 wallets...shopping there is kinda...stressful..if u go to the cheap markets aka chinese pasar malam...my dad wanted to go shanghai to see the growth there..cos he heard from his frens that shanghai growing at a very fast pace...yeah...got a lot of new shopping centres there (btw there's a raffles city there as well...built by capitaland)...but..they r almost EMPTY...the chinese really dun have the spending power to buy stuff from their own traditional shopping centres..let alone the higher end ones...n higher end ones in singapore terms is like...paragon..taka...maybe cine..but they r all empty lor..the salespersons there can just sit in the shop n do nothing the whole day...

3. Traffic -- i am damn surprised how come i din see any accidents there...the max distance between 2 vehicles there is like...an inch...i realli wonder how they squeeze thru each other...n they change 2 lanes at a go..without signalling or warning...but of cos they honk at each other....but still...no accidents! but in singapore...traffic is usualli quite smooth except jams but jams r nothing compared to the driving there...but yet in sg there r so many accidents due to jams...

4. Food -- generally ok..just a bit too oily...n i realli ate a hell lot there...esp the last few days...hairy crabs...YUM...oh ya n the food there is..filthy cheap..hhahah...oh ya..n its a battle of macs n kfc there...every 100 m in nanjing road....ther's a kfc AND macs together...thats so much worse than singapore...n i tot there were too mani macs in singapore...there's also yoshinoya there..pizza hut..but they r all trailing behind the 2 leaders..

5. Accommodation -- i love the hotel i chose...ideal location...right smack in the heart of shanghai aka singapore's orchard road...i noe its in the city centre..but i din noe its like..the best located hotel among all the hotels there..out of the back door n im in the shopping arcade...n there's haagen daaz at the ground floor of the hotel..which explains my weight gain...

6. Weather -- the weather was fantastic..except fer the rain on the first day and the heavy fog on the last day (upon typing this i realise the first n last days of the trip wasnt very weather-friendly..haha)...temps varied around 10 deg...which was cooling but not too cold..

7. Attractions -- the places of interest around shanghai r boring...thank goodness din go fer a tour if not i would have died of boredom...walked to the bund from the hotel (about 20 min slow walk)..n it was a disappointment...went to dunno wat temple n yuyuan gardens which was highly recommended..but...BORING...after that we decided to just concentrate on eating n shopping......

k i better end...something wrong with my dad's comp..need to solve it for him...n im TIRED...after a hell lot of mess in the morning...oh ya n a bad landing...the pilot was saying singapore was having a bad weather so be prepared for turbulence....fine..but...when he landed..it was sunny..n no signs of rain..but yet...HE SKIDDED!! a skidding plane isnt fun......bbbaaaaa...i oso need to find out wat i missed out in the last wk...
